The Second Inquisition

This secret organization holds the records and knowledge from the medieval Inquisition.  The modern image of the Inquisitors as corrupt and foolish partly truth, and partly propaganda that is central to the Masquerade itself.  Make no mistake, the hard core of the Society is armed with both knowledge of vampire nature and the faith and tools to destroy the monsters.  What they lacked was credibility and the support of mortal society.  Unfortunately for vampires, intelligence agencies have discovered the reality of vampires. 

Not every CIA or MI-5 Agent knows about the existence of vampires.  The authorities are careful not to spark a panic.  But vampiric keywords may be flagged by the NSA, and transportation authorities search for "blank bodies," humanoids without appropriate vital signs.  Kindred are hunted, and carelessness about the Masquerade is important in an existential way, not just as lip service to musty old Traditions

The Tremere Prime Chantry in Vienna has fallen.  The Princes of London and Las Vegas were destroyed, as were the Archbishops of New York and Tokyo.  The Sabbat has disappeared overnight and the Camarilla exists only where it truly believed in the Masquerade.  The Second Inquisition is real, and powers of vampiric blood or tricks of influence are not enough to save even the most powerful.  Only discretion and hiding suffice.  It is too late to avoid discovery.
